EPCRC Team Participates in International Forum in Washington, D.C., Strengthening Global Partnerships

Our team from the Economic Policy and Competitiveness Research Center (EPCRC) traveled to  Washington, D.C., USA, from June 22–29, 2026, participating in the international conference themed “From Risk to Resilience: Building a Transparent and Secure Investment Ecosystems,” hosted by the Center for International Private Enterprise (CIPE).

On June 24, we took part in a targeted session alongside prominent, independent research think tanks representing Latin America, Africa, and Asia. The collaborative dialogue focused heavily on sharing institutional frameworks and best practices to bolster accountable investment climates and identify, evaluate, and mitigate the risks associated with “corrosive capital” (opaque, non-transparent foreign investments that threaten local regulatory systems). During the session, we presented an executive summary of our latest research initiative, “Mongolia’s Local Corruption Risk” Our findings sparked active discussion among an esteemed panel of researchers hailing from Peru, Nigeria, Ghana, and Columbia, as well as delegates from AmCham Mongolia.

Beyond the conference, we met with advisors to members of the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives on Capitol Hill. These briefings allowed us to exchange views on our Center’s core activities, ongoing research, policy initiatives, the outcomes of our joint projects with CIPE, and future areas of cooperation.

During these congressional briefings, we directly engaged with:

• Colby Harriman, Legislative Counsel to Representative Dina Titus (Nevada)
• Jane Scarborough, Legislative Counsel to Representative Michael Baumgartner (Washington)
• Robert Hoch, Senior Advisor to Representative George Latimer (New York)

During these meetings, the team presented its ongoing research and initiatives aimed at promoting good governance and transparency in Mongolia.

This visit served as a vital opportunity to strengthen cooperation with international partner organizations, exchange mutual experiences, and globally promote research and policy actions aimed at developing a transparent and accountable investment environment in Mongolia.
